Our Story

Built on Experience,
Driven by Curiosity

Over two and a half decades in Australian IT. We've seen technologies rise and fall, trends come and go — and we've learned what actually matters.

25+
Years in Australian IT

An IT Company That
Actually Gets It

Core Networks has been operating in Australia since 1999. What started as a small operation helping local businesses with their first computers and networks grew into a full-service IT company trusted by hundreds of organisations across the country.

We've always believed that technology should serve people — not the other way around. That philosophy has kept us grounded through every major shift in the industry, from Y2K to cloud computing to the current AI revolution.

Our Journey

25 Years in the Making

We've been around long enough to see it all — and learn from all of it.

Late 1990s — Founded

Core Networks begins helping Australian businesses navigate the early internet age. Dial-up connections, Windows NT, and some very long cable runs.

2000s — Infrastructure & Growth

Broadband arrives and business networking explodes. We design and deploy LAN/WAN infrastructure, servers, and security systems for businesses of all sizes.

2010s — Security & Virtualisation

Cyber threats evolve rapidly. We shift focus to hardening, penetration testing, and helping clients move to virtualised and hybrid cloud infrastructure.

2020s — Transition & Knowledge Sharing

After 25 years of hands-on work, we've stepped back from active client work to share what we've learned through writing, tooling, and community contribution.

Now — The Blog

A new chapter: writing about IT, cybersecurity, open source, AI, and the lessons learned from a quarter-century at the coalface.

What We Stand For

Principles Over Buzzwords

After 25 years, some things haven't changed.

🔍

Honest Advice

We've never sold technology for its own sake. If a simpler solution works better, that's what we recommend. No vendor commissions shaping our opinions.

🔧

Practical Over Perfect

Real IT is messy. Solutions need to work in the real world, not just in theory. We build things that hold up under pressure.

📖

Open Knowledge

The IT industry runs on shared knowledge. What we've learned over 25 years shouldn't stay locked away — it should be available to anyone who needs it.

🛡️

Security First

Security isn't a feature you bolt on at the end. After years of incident response, we know what happens when it's treated as an afterthought.
